“Unlike modern football stadiums, La Bombonera is famously built vertically and squeezed into a dense residential area. It’s the literal cornerstone of suburbia in Buenos Aires. My painting explores this proximity, showing the stadium looming over the colourful conventillos and how the everyday domesticity of the suburb lives in the shadow of the blue and yellow giant.”
